Bhara Pokhara one week trek

This trek gives a feeling of being in the High Himalayas. From the Bhara Pokhari ridge the enormous 10,000 feet south face of some of the biggest peaks in the world are only a few miles away to the north.

Foreigners hardly ever take this route and consequently the villagers will greet the visitor with a great deal of friendly interest.

Day 1

Arrive Kathmandu: transfer to hotel. The rest of the day is free. The calm before the storm ....

Day 2

Drive to trail head and trek to Chitti Tilar. The route takes us over the Marsayandi river from where we start a gentle climb through the rice paddies.

Day 3

Trek to Phurano Duwar. The rice paddies have been replaced by millet fields as we trek through forest before reaching Taksar (1670m) which affords a great view of the Annapurna Himal and the three peaks of Manaslu.

Day 4

Ridge walk to Bhari Pokhari - lush forests surround a lake. Sounds idyllic.

Day 5

Trek to Chitre Kharka.

Day 6

Trek to Bhul Bhule - wake up early to the breath-taking sight of the light reflecting on Machhapuchhare (fish tail peak). We make our way down into the Marsayandi Valley passing through pretty villages surrounded by terraced fields and mandarin groves.

Day 7

A gentle but scenic trek down the valley to Besi Shar.

Day 8

Free in Kathmandu.

Day 9

Fly home

The trek is organised by Community Action Treks Ltd. I'm really looking forward to it.
