Bhara Pokhara one week trek This trek gives a feeling of being in the High Himalayas. From the Bhara Pokhari ridge the enormous 10,000 feet south face of some of the biggest peaks in the world are only a few miles away to the north. Foreigners hardly ever take this route and consequently the villagers will greet the visitor with a great deal of friendly interest. Day 1Arrive Kathmandu: transfer to hotel. The rest of the day is free. The calm before the storm .... Day 2Drive to trail head and trek to Chitti Tilar. The route takes us over the Marsayandi river from where we start a gentle climb through the rice paddies. Day 3Trek to Phurano Duwar. The rice paddies have been replaced by millet fields as we trek through forest before reaching Taksar (1670m) which affords a great view of the Annapurna Himal and the three peaks of Manaslu. Day 4Ridge walk to Bhari Pokhari - lush forests surround a lake. Sounds idyllic. Day 5Trek to Chitre Kharka. Day 6Trek to Bhul Bhule - wake up early to the breath-taking sight of the light reflecting on Machhapuchhare (fish tail peak). We make our way down into the Marsayandi Valley passing through pretty villages surrounded by terraced fields and mandarin groves. Day 7A gentle but scenic trek down the valley to Besi Shar. Day 8Free in Kathmandu. Day 9Fly home The trek is organised by Community Action Treks Ltd. I'm really looking forward to it. |
